Your first 30 days as an affiliate

A week-by-week plan for the first month, built around the thing that actually determines whether this works: the audience you build before you promote anything.
Most affiliates who quit do so in the first month, because they treated the link as the product. The link is not the product. Your audience is.
Here is a month that sets up the following six.
Week one: get the housekeeping done
Register and verify. Verification takes up to 48 hours and blocks your first payout, so do it now rather than on the 4th of next month.
Pick one channel. Not four. One place where you will build an audience — most commonly a Telegram group, because it is where this market already is.
Decide what your channel is about. "Here is my referral link" is not a channel. "Daily football analysis for Maldivian fans" is. "Free rounds and offers, checked and posted the same day" is. People join for a reason; you need to supply one.
Week two: build the audience, share nothing commercial
Post consistently. Every day if you can, three times a week at minimum. Whatever your channel is about, be genuinely useful at it.
Do not post your link this week. Not once.
This feels like wasted time and it is the opposite. A channel of 200 people who joined because you are useful will outperform a channel of 2,000 who joined because someone forwarded a promo.
Target for the week: 50–150 members, gained by being worth following.
Week three: introduce the offer once
When you have an audience with a reason to be there, introduce what you are doing. Once, plainly, without hype:
I use Kira and I am part of their affiliate programme. If you sign up through my link I earn a share, at no cost to you. Here it is. I will keep posting whatever I post regardless.
Then go back to your normal content. The disclosure matters legally and it matters for trust — people can tell when they are being sold to, and they resent finding it out later far more than being told upfront.
Expect: a handful of registrations. Not dozens. That is normal.
Week four: measure, then adjust
Look at what actually happened:
- Which posts brought new members?
- What time of day gets engagement? (In this market, evenings after 21:00, peaking Thursday and Friday.)
- How many registrations converted to active members?
Double down on whatever produced members. Stop doing the rest.
What the month should produce
| Metric | Reasonable |
|---|---|
| Channel members | 150–400 |
| Registrations | 15–40 |
| Active members | 8–20 |
| Commission | MVR 800–4,000 |
If you hit 25 active members, the fast-start bonus adds MVR 2,500 on top.
The mistakes that cost people their first month
Spraying the link into unrelated groups. You get removed, and in a country this size people remember.
Promising outcomes. "Guaranteed" anything breaks the programme rules and will close your account.
Four channels at once. Nothing reaches critical mass. One channel, properly.
Quitting in week three. The curve is flat then steep. Month one is the flat part — that is what it is supposed to look like.
